"Is this normal?"
When it comes to the club, the answer to this question is usually an absolute no. And the text I received Monday asking that question sure lived up to my expectations. A good friend of mine sent me a picture her sister had taken on Mother's Day, featuring their kids gathered in front of the couch.
And there, in the back of the picture circled in red, is what looks to be like another child crouching in a jacket. Honestly I thought it was another kid at first, just crouching in the back behind the cushions. But the more I study the picture, the more I'm not so sure.
Take a closer look at the couch. The back cushion is thick, and it sits pretty flush against the front left cushion, even with it sitting at an angle. You can tell the thickness of the left cushion thanks to that angle, and based off of that and the lay of the couch, it looks as though the right cushion its right against the back cushion. No space for another child.
Let me just say, it's kind of creepy. I zoomed in on the face and it doesn't get any better (no real surprise there).
Yeah, not better. And it doesn't help figure out what exactly it is. To me and a few friends who've seen the picture, it looks almost animalistic. It just doesn't have the right features to appear wholly human, which actually could just be the poor lighting, but even then.. I don't know. Nothing about that face settles well with me.
The only editing done to the pictures was blurring the faces of the kids through BlurImage and in the first one, my friend used SnapChat to circle the figure. No other enhancements or manips used at all.
To make this more unsettling, my friend said her daughter hasn't been acting like herself. Her daughter is very sweet, very loving, and a huge momma's girl (she's top left in the photos, red shirt). However her behavior has begun to change. Lately, when she gets mad or upset, she goes into a certain corner, curls herself up, and gives her mom an 'evil eye'. She just sits there and glares at her mom. No screaming or yelling or temper tantrums. Just full on angry-face.
Right before this started happening, her daughter began to talk to herself, and it was only after catching her a few times did her mom realize she's talking to someone else. The thing is, she doesn't say it's an imaginary friend. She doesn't mention it all all. When my friend asks her who she's talking to, she says nothing and refuses to talk about it.
A few months ago, they were brushing their teeth, and her daughter suddenly turned around and waved at something unseen behind them. When my friend turned around, of course nothing was there, and her daughter said the same thing: she waved at nothing. She did this multiple times in the few minutes they were in there; turning, smiling and laughing, waving, and then turning around again. This started the habit of her daughter suddenly waking up in the middle of the night and going to sleep in the bathroom. The habit only varies now when she retreats to sleep under the table in the corner that she sits in when she's mad.
It's a strong belief in the paranormal community that children are much more susceptible to the paranormal than teens and adults. They're much more open to the communication, and many paranormal experts believe that children have an easier time perceiving the paranormal (in the same way that children can hear sounds adults can't and have more alert taste-buds than adults). As well, she mentioned that when she and her sister were children, they'd messed around with a ouija board and they got the impression that they let out something dark. They burned the board, but since then it's been a lingering feeling with her and her sister, and when this happened she got the same feeling (as she does with her daughter when she acts unusual).
We'd love your input on this. If my friend is up for it, we plan to do an investigation to make sure she and her family are safe, and that there's nothing sinister brewing. Please feel free to leave your feedback here, or join the conversation at our facebook page!

3rd Floor SUB (Student Union Building) Investigation
Hey all you bloggers! Our investigation Saturday night was somewhat successful! we only able to get in for a couple hours, but some of us did manage to witness some activity.
In room 318, I (that's me Becca) heard something whisper "Richardson". I found this weird because we haven't done an actual investigation in Richardson Hall in a while due to renovations. I also felt something in room 306, it's a conjoining room. As I was walking through the door way, I felt something walking next to me, and as I got closer to the door, I was pulled back from the door way.
In room 302 I believe, Josh and I walked in and immediately felt a temperature drop. We're talking like 80 degrees to like 60 degrees. When we walked in, we automatically felt something was in the room. When Josh got to the table that was in the center of the room, he felt a pinch on his leg. Right after that we both saw a figure sitting at the head of the table.
Then in room 318 again, Josh and I both felt something and both got really bad and ominous feelings.
We're hoping to get in again, and then this time with some equipment.

The History of Richardson Hall
So I'm not sure why we haven't posted this up before, but here's a little history of Adams State and Richardson Hall for those of you that are curious.
Adams State was founded in 1921 as Adams State Teacher's College. That's why the front of the building says the "Normal School". During this time, normal schools were teacher colleges. The blueprints and early foundations were started in 1921, and finally finished in 1923-25 (we aren't' completely sure of the complete date). Dr. Ira Richardson was the first president, and founder Billy Adams' friend, of Adams State Teacher's College (1925 - 1950).
The part that is circled was the original school. Yes, the original school. Library, dorms, classes, cafeteria, professors' offices, administration offices, auditorium, and gymnasium. The wing on the left, was built in 1938 as one of President Roosevelt's New Deal programs. The wing on the left was built in 1947.
Governor Billy Adams, worked for three decades before obtaining the authorization to found Adams State Normal School in 1921. During his long career in the legislature, there were times when Adams was the only Democrat in the senate while there were other times when he led the majority party. Good weather or bad, he fought for what he thought was best for his county and his state. In the forty-two years he served in the legislative halls, he introduced only one bill. The bill was passed and created the Alamosa State Normal School at Alamosa. Later it was changed to the Adams State Teachers College. It is rumored that the KKK, (a majority of the legislators in Colorado at this time) pulled the funding for Adams State to fund the Colorado State Teacher's College at Greeley (University of Northern Colorado - Greeley). Mr. Adams cleverly added in a clause in one of the pages of the bill to fund Adams State. He was also instrumental in creating the Colorado Agricultural College at Fort Collins and Western State College at Gunnison.
Pretty nifty huh?

Goodbye, Matt
Yesterday was Matt's last regular investigation. He's leaving Adams State tomorrow, and the club is very sad to see him go. He's a good friend to all of us, and it's definitely going to be weird not seeing him at the meetings, or around campus.
Matt is one of our four base members. Though Becca and I started the club, we didn't start going anywhere until Matt and Emi took a leap of faith and began to investigate with us. Matt's pretty much been with us since the beginning. Even though he'll be back for special events and such, it won't be the same without him climbing around and getting into trouble.
So, goodbye Matt, and we hope to see you back permanently next fall. Until then, be safe and keep your head up. We'll miss you.

Ghosts of Richardson: Mr. Janitor
So as you know, we've been researching each ghost that we come in contact with. Well, tonight in our library investigation we just may have found out more about Mr. Janitor.
So far all we know is that he was a janitor who worked for Adams State and he died peacefully in his sleep. His daughter, who had worked here with him was the one who found him.
Becca, that's me, discovered obituaries in the Colorado room in the library. This room is a compilation of historical events, people, etc that have happened in Colorado.
We now have three possible identities as to who Mr. Janitor could have been.

Equipment Makes the Investigating Grow Fonder
Thanks to our friends over in Grizzly Video Productions, the Club rented out a camera, boom, and shotgun microphone to use for the investigation today, as well as the Library investigation Friday night.
We got the camera yesterday, and it only got to charge for about half an hour before I ran out the door with it. I spent three hours locking myself in dark rooms and running around the library playing with it and testing out the built in light (it works, by the way). I was more excited than a kid in a candy store. Or, I guess more fittingly I was more excited than a ghost hunter in a haunted building.
Today we're doing a usual investigation in Richardson. We'll be aided by the camera and mic, and I'm so excited to see what we pick up that I almost can't wait until 2.
We've got the equipment rented out until Monday, and I will be renting out a camera for every Tuesday meeting and big event so we can document it.
ALSO, I almost forgot to mention that for anyone here in Alamosa, more specifically at Adams State, our videos will soon be featured on the school's TV channel. I'm also very super excited about that. I've also had a lot of coffee today, so my energy is a little over the top.
So far, that's all the news I have for you, so stay tuned and be ready for a really awesome vlog!
